Appellate advocacy is more than meets the eye. It may involve partnering with trial counsel to preserve issues for appeal using proper procedure and relevant strategic considerations, or to manage concurrent litigation in the trial and appellate courts. It could include representing or coordinating with "friends of the court" to file amicus curiae briefs bringing to light practical or policy considerations affected by the appeal, but it often requires navigating complex, developing areas of the law and civil and appellate procedure.
Take your appellate practice to the next level with this year's program, which brings together current and former judges and seasoned appellate advocates to discuss the latest developments in North Carolina appellate practice and pull back the curtain on often-undiscussed aspects of appellate advocacy.
