This program explains the role of North Carolina's Advance Health Care Directive Registry in increasing awareness of and access to critical directives whenever and wherever they are needed.
Each day offers a fresh opportunity to create advance health care directives, revisit or revise them, and ensure that they're known and easily accessible. Directives not being easily accessible can make a huge difference in a medical emergency, so executing the documents is only part of the job. Lay people look to lawyers, regardless of practice specialty, for guidance on these matters.
Memorializing health care wishes is a necessary first step, but it's crucial for loved ones, caregivers and proxies to be aware that health care directives have been prepared and that they be able to access those directives quickly when the need arises.
