This year's program does a "deep dive" into two areas where the law and medicine intersect with even more complexity than ever before: payment for medical services rendered and the challenges posed by behavioral health and substance abuse issues.
The morning session is devoted to a discussion of alternative payment models and related tax, insurance, and antitrust issues, as well as the legal issues created by, among other things, paying providers not to take care of patients.
The afternoon session centers around the current status of 45 CFR Part 2, the intersection of mental health and substance use disorders, and the challenges faced by hospital counsel related to both, including involuntary commitment.
An executive roundtable ties the two sessions together while highlighting other challenges facing the health care industry. Substance abuse credit is included.
