This manuscript considers the advocacy opportunities and ethical challenges that arise in representing crossover youth who are experiencing school-based problems (suspension, unmet special education needs, etc.) while delinquency or criminal charges are pending or likely.
Specifically, it explores how ethical issues may arise related to rules of competency and confidentiality, among other rules of professional conduct, in the course of trying to zealously advocate for youth who find themselves in multiple systems.
